The retaining wall

We're making good progress considering we've only been in the house for a about a month now and still no internet/NBN.
We had the coping laid around the pool and the water line tiles put in as well.
These were done just before xmas on the 19th Dec.

What a scream it was to watch the tiler spitting chips as he cut each one...funny as! He thought we were having Travertine tiles (our first decision), but someone forgot to tell him that we had changed our minds (months ago and even showed our new tile to the owner of Award pools) and he didn't have the right cutting tool needed to cut them....poor thing :(
So he had to buy a new cutting blade $$$$ and more time laying them.

When he was done, Geoff and I started on our 300mm high retaining walls before our tillers came to do the outdoor tiles around the pool and the alfresco.

We hired a post hole digger and dug 30 x 600mm deep holes on Thursday 2nd Jan, then concreted 10 posts in on Friday the 3rd, another 10 on Saturday and the last 10 by the Sunday....phew what a freaking task that was....it certainly didn't help with the temperature hitting over 40 degrees every day and no water in the pool yet to cool us off....bummer!

The screeding has been done (6th Jan)

7th Jan, started to lay tiles

Pool area has now been completed (9th Jan)

Alfresco was started on Friday the 10th and completed on Saturday the 11th
We were so happy with our tillers who completed the job in a week with no complaints & no whinging and most days they worked close to 12hrs every day in temps that would make you sick....super heroes in my books and yes, these were the same guys that did our internal tiles!
So now we can sit in the alfresco overlooking the (soon to be beautiful pool) with no concrete dust flying around...yeah happy days!

We've also finally had the front levelled out in prep for the turf/gardens. We have been debating for some time now of what to do and we still can't make up out mind on weather to just have turf or to do gardens and if so what type and how big!!!!! Oh the decisions one must make.

M. Stephens Said - Thanks for keeping the updates coming you must be super frustrated with no internet as yet you poor things, I know I'd go crazy without ours! Looking good, keep up the good work. such a big difference to the front of the house too now that you've had it levelled. Cant wait to see what you do with the landscaping, good luck x

Me - Thanks Mark, we're frustrated to no end with Telstra, apparently it's got something to do with the NBN connection point being in the wrong place when the estate was developed! But they do assure us that they'll have it fixed soon and our case manager has been brilliant so we can't ask for more than that!
